About Us
BYB-Trade & Commerce Association is a professional branch of "Bilanga Ya Betu", a respected agricultural and social development association based in the Democratic Republic of Congo. "BYB" stands for Bilanga Ya betu, meaning " Our Farm" in Lingala. It's a symbol of unity, shared prosperity, and collective growth. We expand the mission of BYB by building a bridge between the Congolese diaspora, local businesses, and the international trade ecosystem in the United States.
Mission & Vision
The BYB-Trade and Commerce Association (BYB-TCA) empowers the Congolese and African diaspora by creating a bridge between the United States, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and other African countries. Our mission is to mobilize talent, accelerate trade, transfer knowledge, and drive economic transformation across both regions. We exist to unify the diaspora, strengthen economic ecosystems, and open the doors to global opportunities in agriculture, commerce, industry, and innovation.
Our Vision is to become the leading trade and investment hub representing the Congolese diaspora and their partners, driving economic transformation, job creation, and inclusive growth across the United States through agriculture, commerce, entrepreneurship, and strategic collaboration.
Our Strategic Objectives
1. Mobilizing the Diaspora:
We bring together Congolese professionals, entrepreneurs, investors, and community leaders living abroad. Our goal is to activate diaspora networks, establish strong partnerships, and leverage global expertise into tangible opportunities for national development. BYB-TCA positions the diaspora as a strategic engine of economic growth.
2. Transferring Knowledge & Technology:
We facilitate the exchange of modern agricultural, commercial, and industrial techniques between the United States and the Democratic Republic of Congo. This includes technical assistance, professional training, and best practices in agribusiness, commerce, and sustainability. Our purpose is to bring global innovation home.
3. Sharing Opportunities:
BYB-TCA ensures its members have access to real, high-value opportunities, such as trade missions, investment deals, partnership opportunities, calls for proposals, and access to business networks in both countries (the United States and the Democratic Republic of Congo). We accelerate connections that create jobs, income, and long-term impact.
4. Promoting Research & Innovation:
We support and encourage the use of research, innovation, and science in agriculture, agribusiness, and entrepreneurial development. This includes incubating new ideas, supporting innovators, and encouraging innovative solutions. We help members build businesses that last.
5. Mobilizing Financing:
BYB-TCA works to connect members with grants, institutional investors, diaspora investors, US private sector partners, and agricultural development financing. The mission is to unlock capital so that projects can scale and thrive.
6. Implementing Transformative Projects:
We support and coordinate structuring projects such as agricultural cooperatives, rural development programs, trade infrastructure, and community economic initiatives, because these projects strengthen communities and build economic independence.
7. Facilitating Exports:
BYB-TCA helps businesses navigate export logistics, U.S. compliance, packaging and quality standards, and marketing entry strategies. We position Congolese producers to access U.S. and international markets with confidence.
8. Promoting Agricultural & Agro-Ecological Tourism:
We promote tourism that highlights local agriculture, ecological sites, rural innovation, and cultural heritage. This sector creates jobs, celebrates Congolese excellence, and strengthens the link between diaspora and homeland.
